Vulnerability

A Good Morning Run by cchemm2002

The earth shifts
March brings the sun earlier each day.

I leave with the rising morning.
Above me the saucer of moon drifts
A bit of leftover night.

Decay of harvested cauliflower gives way
The sweet perfume of orange blossoms
Wafting over a wall.

Right foot, left foot
Dee...dum...dee...dum...dee...dum
Pounding out the rhythm of my thoughts.

My shadow keeps pace beside me.
Rounding the corner, she lengthens out before me
Urging me on.

I've spent the winter running in darkness
Hidden, except for the reflector belt
Securing safety around my waist.

I pass a man
Walking the other way.
We offer mumbled good mornings.

Exposed out here
In all this light.

And this one too. Find a runner's blog or zine. It's great. Has a Haiku feel.
