A Few of My Favorite Things: November's List

In the Front Yard by cchemm2002
1. The No Brainer Wardrobe
I can't remember how I came across The Tiny Twig. I think I may have seen an ad for her No Brainer Wardrobe e-book on another blog I read often. However it happened, I'm glad it did. I think I've written before about how challenged I am when it comes to fashion. I'm not interested enough to spend much time figuring out what's in style, and it annoys me how much money clothing can cost. When colder weather arrived, my sister-in-law reminded me that I was not in the desert anymore and flip flops could not be my footwear of choice throughout an east coast winter. She helped me figure out how to cover my feet, but my wardrobe was still lacking. Enter The No Brainer Wardrobe...it's actually 31 posts from October 2011. I spent a few evenings reading through her fashion posts, comparing her "must-haves" with my closet, and making a list of what I still needed to round out my clothing selection. She works under the assumption that if you have a few good pieces, mostly within the same color family, you can layer in tons of different ways. This makes a smaller collection of clothes seem bigger. For the first time in (maybe) ever, I've had fun playing in my closet. I did most of my shopping at Old Navy and Ann Taylor Loft, happily stumbling on some major sales. I still have a few pieces to add, but for the most part, I'm warm and nicely dressed these days. It feels good.

2. Kinfolk's 2012 Christmas Playlist
One of my favorite magazines also has a really fun online journal. Since they posted this playlist on 12/1, it technically doesn't count as a November fav, but I wanted you to be able to enjoy it with me through the holiday season. It's an eclectic mix of old and new-to-me songs and has been on constant repeat as I sit at my desk. Holiday music is my best bet for really feeling the Christmas spirit. Have a listen. I think you'll love it too.

3. Banana Republic's Abby Ballet Flat
I have a really narrow heel and usually can't find ballet flats that will stay on my foot. Thanks to BR, this is no longer the case. These shoes fit well and are ridiculously comfortable. I don't miss my flip flops nearly as much now that I own these. I bought them in a gorgeous red (colored flats are one of the items in the No Brainer Wardrobe!). Sadly, it looks like red isn't available anymore. If you're looking for a neutral flat that's super comfy though, take a look. I promise your feet will thank me!
