Decorations...Liza really got into the tree decorations this year. She oooed and ahhed as I unwrapped each one, wanting to know where each one resided on the breakable scale. It was fun to find a few in there that she made herself last year, and she proudly hung a new glittery one that came home from school today. I encouraged her to spread the wealth all over the tree; she preferred to decorate in a more localized area. I thought about rearranging them after she was in bed, but I've decided to leave it like it is. Her design aesthetic makes me smile.
Exchange...The gift giving sure changes when a child arrives in the family. We've scaled way back and draw names now. Each adult gets a gift or two from their wish list. It's fun and simple. Simple is good, especially during the holidays.
Film...Which movie says Christmas to you? Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life definitely take me back to my childhood Christmases. The last few years I've really loved The Holiday, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation never fails to make me laugh. I'd also like to see Love, Actually again. So many people love it, and I don't think I've ever seen the whole thing straight through.
